YES it’s true … an afternoon bridal love affair with the “Wedding Dress Whisperer” really happened in Ottawa!!! .
My heart still races a little and I feel a few butterflies flutter about when I think about meeting the star of TLC’s Say YES to the Dress, Randy Fenoli in Ottawa this spring. Randy is a well-known television personality that is a true rock star in the bridal industry and I loved the time we spent together discussing our shared passion for all things beautiful.
Our original meeting was 8 years ago when I was an excited bride-to-be myself looking for that dream wedding dress at Kleinfeld Bridal in New York City, so the recent opportunity to engage on a professional level as one of the select vendors was deeply meaningful for me on many levels.
Randy is the real deal.
He is candid, flamboyant and full of energy with a fun loving spirit that makes everyone feel extra special. During his entertaining stage presentation his big personality, fashion sensibilities and wit had the audience laughing hysterically, taking notes and just enjoying getting to know about Randy on a personal level. His self-described mission to help others recognize their own personal beauty by “Educating, Elevating and Empowering” was successful. Everyone was charmed and by the end of the party we all left feeling absolutely wonderful and inspired.
GLOSS is best known for their inspirational design style and fresh approach to décor. Our trendsetting creative philosophy can be an artistic challenge, but our passion for coming up with unique one-of-a-kind ideas for every showcase is what sets us apart and demonstrates the range we possess as designers.
From concept to completion, we skilfully transform vision into reality with our flawless attention to detail and an impeccable sense of style. We never take shortcuts, and every dream and desire is thoughtfully crafted so the final result becomes a true reflection of the couple as well as an unforgettable occasion.
For this special event we decided to share our creative process with the goal of helping every bride and their guests envision a fun and effective approach to design regardless of their working budget. Our booth included two gallery-style pillars topped with glass domes. The first was labelled ‘INSPIRATION’ which held objects similar to what a bride or groom might bring to us to help tell their story such as a family heirloom or an item that has sentimental value or even something that is simply beautiful to them (e.g. fabric swatch, candle holder, a single bloom). The second pillar displayed the label ‘CONCEPT’ to illustrate how these elements made impressions that shaped our notions and thoughts as we began to envision a plan using various sketches, vision boards and exhibits uniquely inspired for our couple. Lastly, the tablescape became our finished canvas that allowed all of these elements to "come to life". Enhanced by lush foliage, bright blooms by Flowers Talk Tivoli and our geometric terrariums, each place setting displayed layers of textures and different finishes including edgy hammered copper cutlery and a striking collection of unique candle holders. This design was definitely not your typical white wedding (although we also love the pure aesthetics of white on white). We decided to apply a more contemporary approach to our design because we wanted to demonstrate that by celebrating personal panache, your wedding day can be an imaginative and innovative reflection of you and your fiancée.
We were honoured to be part of a select group of industry professionals at Centrepointe Theatre on April 30th. GLOSS was one of 15 specially curated creative entrepreneurs, representing the décor category. The intimate atmosphere of this event was unlike any other as it was stylishly personalized, exciting, educational, which felt more like a lavish party than a wedding show. The atmosphere was so welcoming that people really had the opportunity to connect with one another. The flawless orchestration of the entire memorable affair began with an amazing candid talk and an engaging photo shoot with Randy Fenoli. Brides-to-be and their special guests then moved outdoors to enjoy a sparkling champagne cocktail from our good friends at Cellar 82. However, indulging in bubbly bliss from a very cool retro Airstream trailer was just the beginning, because when the theater doors opened, the lively romantic vibe expanded into a transformed space overflowing with exquisite artful details of vendor displays. Guests continued to mingle while savouring the flavours of decadent and delicious treats from Thyme & Again while the winners of phenomenal prizes were announced by Randy from above. Everyone departed sharing a collective “joie de vivre” and fabulous swag filled with items designed to inspire. It was truly an extraordinary day. We had a blast spending time with friends, meeting new people, and the heartfelt pleasure of following up with all of the beautiful brides we met!
